BIT 2020. Prompts for reflection of a traveler.

Written by CinziaTosini

Go to BIT – the International Tourism Exchange – is a bit 'like traveling. I repeat every year, because this important tourism event held in Milan for over thirty years, shortens the distance to an encounter between those living in the territories and those who want to learn about them. A passion – that of travel – involving more and more people and that knows no age.

“We do not travel to escape life, but so that life doesn't escape us.”

An international showcase with large attendances that allows you to discover new destinations, and which sees Italy in first place in the world in travel desires due to its great historical-artistic and landscape attractive force. The numbers prove it, among other numbers always destined to grow more.

That said, what travelers ask Italian tour operators at the end of a holiday? More services.

During my visit in addition to the moments of meeting and discussion at the various exhibition stands, were so many insights and insights offered by a number of thematic conferences. Yup, because in order to promote tourism need serious reflection, but above all we need operators willing toovercome individualism, those obstacles that hinder the concept of creating a system. Operators with resourcefulness who know listen to the guest, because today's traveler wants more meaningful travel experiences, that make an authentic impact on one's life. He wants to get in touch with the reality of the place, with emotional experiences that enrich it. I am referring to increasingly connected travellers, but who don't mind disconnecting from the network for a few hours foster connections with people

In addition to this, for the development of tourism – which is worth the 13% of our GDP (data from Eurostat) – it is necessary to invest more and more in accessibility, sustainability and innovation. We need strategies territorial marketing, also and above all in the seasons in which Italy is not favored by tourist flows. Adeseasonalization which requires planning and competent people who know how to promote the many segments of this sector which is so important for our economy: food and wine tourism, cultural tourism, green tourism, wellness tourism, film tourism, health tourism, sports tourism…

Unfortunately, those who live in the area often do not know it well enough, sore point that alas – from direct experience – I often find myself noticing. In this sense, awidespread information: digital and paper tools easily usable in accommodation establishments built on the basis of tourists' usual questions. Concrete help that makes money reputation to those who create them and who help the traveler to settle in.

There is so much to do, there is so much beautiful Italy to communicate…
